The 2011 Commissioner of Charities (COC) Annual Report outlined changes to the financial reporting requirements of charities. These requirements have now been implemented via the Charities (Fund-Raising Appeals for Local and Foreign Charitable Purposes) Regulations and Charities (Accounts and Annual Report) Regulations.

ROM/ROMM Building wins silver in BCA’s Universal Design Awards 2012 under the Refurbished Building Category!

MCYS refurbished the Registry of Civil & Muslim Marriages building to make it friendly to all user groups. The design addressed the site challenges and made the building seamlessly accessible.

Initiatives/Enhancements announced in Budget 2012

Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam announced several new initiatives and enhancements during the Budget Speech.
These include:

  1. Plans to do more to attract, groom, reward and enable Singaporeans in the social sector;
  2. Introducing a new per capita household income criterion for pre-school subsidies;
  3. Extending the Student Care Fee Assistance Scheme to families with up to $3,500 in monthly household income;
  4. Increases places in centres for children who need intensive early intervention;
  5. Introducing a new programme to provide learning support and therapy interventions to children with mild speech, language and learning delays; and
  6. Expanding places in Day Activity Centres for adults with severe disabilities by 25%, to allow their caregivers to work or have free time during the day;
More details for each of the initiatives will be announced during MCYS Committee of Supply in early March.

Foreign Domestic Worker Grant

New requirements for marriage to come into effect from 1 September 2011
